-The Chief of Steubenville Police has been in this position for 13 years and is not a graduate of Steubenville City Schools (home of the “Big Red” sports teams).  His child attends another school district.

-Prior to the Chief of Police being permanently appointed to that position, he was vetted and approved by officials inthe U.S. Department of Justice, which was at that time monitoring a Court Consent Decree involving the Steubenville Police.

-The Police Department has only one officer who exclusively investigates juvenile crime. That juvenile officer was the original investigator in this case. That officer graduated from an out of state high school. His children attend another school district.

-Of the 38 officers in the Steubenville Police Department, approximately 8 graduated from Steubenville City Schools (home of the “Big Red” sports teams). The remaining 30 officers graduated from other school districts in and out of state.

-The Police Chief reports to the Steubenville City Manager, who is not a native of Ohio, attended high school out of state and moved to the city in 2010. Her child attends Steubenville City Schools but does attend the high school.
